CI journalists follow this code. It defines how we report, verify and correct the record.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made by editors alone. Advertisers, sponsors and commercial partners have no influence over coverage and no advance access to stories.

Sourcing

We prefer named sources. Anonymity is granted only when the information is important, the source faces real risk, and a senior editor approves. Documents are verified before publication.

Fairness

Anyone facing significant criticism is given a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication, and their response is represented fairly.

Corrections

We correct errors promptly and transparently, with a note on the article explaining what changed and when.
